Volunteers Urgently Needed for Hurricane Irene Clean Up in Vermont & New Jersey!

Samaritan's Purse is urgently seeking volunteers as it begins to deploy Disaster Relief Units to homeowners in Vermont & New Jersey who are recovering from Hurricane Irene. If you are interested in helping with Samaritan's Purse, no special skills are required other than the ability to do physical labor and share the love of Jesus Christ with those who are hurting. Volunteers must provide their own transportation to the work sites. Meals and lodging will be provided. For more information and how to sign up see Hurricane Irene Response.

Stockpile Round Up for Hurricane Irene Disaster Relief!

I was able to empty out most of my stockpile this afternoon, which is always nice for organizational purposes, and in so doing, filled three Disaster Relief Boxes for Hurricane Irene flood victims in New England! I sent one to the Irene Flood Drive in Brant Lake, NY and two to the Tucker Foundation in Hanover, NH.

If you'd like to donate to either of these relief efforts, you can send your donations for the Irene Flood Drive at Jessica DiCicco 31 Brant Lake Heights Drive, Brant Lake, NY 12815 or to the Tucker Foundation at The Tucker Foundation Dartmouth College 6154 South Fairbanks Hanover NH 03755. For more information on current needs, see the Irene Flood Drive's Facebook page or the Tucker Foundation's website.

Items included from my stockpile (free or nearly free): peanut butter, cheerios, oatmeal bars, diapers, 2 pairs of women's jeans, 2 women's tees, girl's knee socks, baby socks, feminine products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, first aid kits, mouth rinse, shampoo, dog food, puppy training pads, pain relief heat patches, garbage bags, muscle and joint pain relief gel, eye drops, beauty tools, and hand sanitizer.

How far can I stretch my current stockpile? I return home tomorrow from a wonderful stay in the Rockies and have several goals after a week away:

The August 2011 Widow's Challenge proved to be rather timely as Hurricane Irene hit the East Coast at the end of the month. I have accumulated some great, donatable freebies to add to the Disaster Relief Boxes for flood stricken areas of the Northeast. I encourage you to keep signing up for freebies; you'll be amazed at how quickly your mailbox fills up with high quality, free products! And easy come, easy go... you can then bless others in need with these freebies.

Pray for those in Hurricane Irene's Path.

You have probably heard about Hurricane Irene in the past few days.  This major storm is currently assaulting the Bahamas and set to hit the East Coast by the weekend. It is a Category 3, but could become a Category 4 by tomorrow, as it travels toward the U.S..

Please pray for those who are being affected by Irene. Pray for safety as people evacuate and find shelter. I can only guess that this will be a natural disaster that will require rebuilding and supplies. I will try to keep you up-to-date on different needs throughout the Eastern States.
