What Do You Fear?

I read an inspiring article today on a Coptic priest, Botros, who is preaching Christianity throughout the Muslim world through on line airwaves. A 60 million dollar reward has been posted for his life by Islamic radicals. He was asked by a reporter from the Christian magazine, World, "What do you fear?"

Fear? I fear nothing. My dictionary does not contain the word, fear. I believe in God and I believe that the epistle of Ephesians says we are created in Jesus Christ for a plan, which was engaged from the early beginning. No one can cut it, and when it is completed no one can continue it.

Lord, may I have that faith.

I recently wrote a blog on God's provision, titled "Worth More than Many Sparrows," as I observed birds at our front porch bird feeder every morning. I used the Scripture from Matthew 10: 29-31,

Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

Well appropriate enough, this blog dwells on the verse directly preceding, verse 28,

Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

We have no one on earth to fear. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
