The Gospel in the new millennium is being put to music by three incredible, Spirit-filled musicians/bands, namely the husband-wife duo, Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken, and the Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) band, "Indelible Grace."
Derek Webb began his musical career with the well-known Christian band, Caedmon's Call. In 2003, he left the band to form a successful solo career, producing four studio albums and one live album. Sandra McCracken has released five albums herself, and has contributed to songs on various Derek Webb, Caedmon's Call, and Indelible Grace albums. Derek and Sandra met in Nashville, when Derek overheard Sandra singing/playing in a coffee shop next to the studio he and Caedmon's Call were recording in; they married in 2000. Reaching into the secular realm, both Webb and McCracken have had songs played in recent episodes of the popular t.v. show, "Grey's Anatomy."
Indelible Grace began as a campus ministry at Belmont University in Nashville. Sandra also graduated from here. Indelible Grace states their purpose on their igracemusic.com website, "Our hope is to help the church recover the tradition of putting old hymns to new music for each generation, and to enrich our worship with a huge view of God and His indelible grace." Each song is theologically packed, creating new twenty-first century hymns for the body of Christ.
I recommend all three artists for the Christian listener. They are grassroots musicians who are producing songs of truth, themselves being humble vessels that the Lord is using as a megaphone for His Kingdom.
