Katie's Krops: Giving through Gardening.

Katie Stagliano, a 13 year old girl and founder of Katie's Krops, oversees six gardens in Summerville, SC in which the produce goes to help soup kitchens and other charitable organizations in her hometown. She started gardening in 2008 when she brought home a cabbage seedling for a third grade science project at school. After faithfully tending the plant, it grew into a 40 pound cabbage! She took the cabbage to a local soup kitchen, prepared the meal herself, and served cabbage over rice to 275 hungry, waiting people!

The amount of people fed from one cabbage motivated her to keep gardening, and to learn how to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. Now, her gardens produce beans, carrots, corn, eggplant, herbs, lettuce, melons, okra, rutabagas, squash, and more! She says, "I want more people to get involved, more people to help in the fight against hunger." What an awesome way to bless people from such an incredible kid!
