The Rebel Jesus.

I love Christmas music, and about this time of year, I usually start listening to it in small doses (call me crazy)! Now, I don't necessarily mean the shallow, secular Christmas music... though songs like Frosty the Snowman and Jingle Bell Rock can be fun, I can do without most of those. But the songs about Jesus and the Incarnation... some of those songs should be played all year through. We had my personal favorite, Joy to the World, played at our wedding. Anyways, I really like and recommend Bebo Norman's album, Christmas from the Realm of Glory, and these lyrics from the song, The Rebel Jesus, struck me today while listening:

We guard our world with locks and guns,
and we guard our fine possessions.
And once a year when Christmas comes,
We give to our relations.
And perhaps we give a little to the poor,
if the generosity should seize us,
but if any one of us should interfere
in the business of why there are poor,
they get the same as the rebel Jesus.
