Happy World Water Day!

Did you know that today is World Water Day? Go get a cup of ice cold water to celebrate! And while you're drinking it, remember that ice is a luxury... and so is clean water, for that matter. Here are some stats from Gospel for Asia (GFA):

  • 3.4 million people die each year from a water-related diseases. That’s almost the entire city of Los Angeles, CA.
  • Diarrhea is the second leading cause of death among children under five in the world. Around 1.5 million deaths a year, nearly one in five, are caused by diarrhea, which kills more children than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined.
  • Globally, women spend 200 million hours a day collecting water. This is equivalent to building 28 Empire State Buildings each day.

Now that you probably feel very guilty about your cup of water (sorry), take a step of love, thank God for your cup of water, and give!

Donate a clean cup of water today by partnering with Gospel for Asia's Jesus Well or Biosand Water Filter programs. We personally love GFA's ministry to the Dalits of Southeast Asia, and we worked with GFA over this past Christmas to raise enough money for a Jesus Well, which provides clean water for an entire community in need. Even though we met and exceeded our goal (woohoo), you can still help by giving through our own personal campaign here!

Holy Moly! On a side note, I just found out that you can give to Gospel for Asia through eBay by designating your sales to go to GFA! Sell some old clothes and make an eternal impact at the same time... how exciting!
