31 Days of Less & More: Less Mindless Spending, More Passionate Living.

Did you know that how you spend your money matters? It matters for eternity. God owns everything, and our money is not really ours (that's kind of silly to think otherwise). There is a huge correlation between our money and our heart:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

It is a lie from Satan that we gain when we keep or when we get more stuff. It's a lie. You will not be satisfied with anything pretty at Target, not in the long term. You will not be satisfied by hoarding pretty things. It is a lie.

You will be blessed when you are free from our culture's message and our natural desire that stuff will make us valuable, happy, and purposeful. Stuff kills. It kills your finances, your peace of mind, and your freedom (because now you have to take care of all your stuff). It also doesn't last on this side of eternity.

You will be blessed when you give. You will be blessed when you give with a passion and purpose to store up treasures for yourself in heaven. That's the truth. I know it's hard to believe, and the lie seems more tangible and more exciting, but look to what is unseen. You will never be more fulfilled or purposeful than when God is your treasure and you are His steward.

For one AWESOME way to store up treasures for yourself in Heaven, check out Gospel for Asia's 2013 Christmas Gift Catalog and be blessed by blessing the poorest communities in Asia.
